Crow's Feet? Talk To Your Dermatologist About Hyaluronic Acid Fillers

Health & Medical Blog

Do the lines to the outside of your eyes have you grimacing every time you look in the mirror? These fine lines, known as crow’s feet, are often one of the first signs of aging to show up in the facial skin. They start to appear as your aging skin loses collagen, which causes it to become less elastic and a bit saggy. Thankfully, there is a treatment than can get rid of those crow’s feet for 6 to 12 months at a time: hyaluronic acid filler injections. Here's a closer look.

How do the injections work?

The main ingredient in these injections, hyaluronic acid, is a substance that's naturally found in your skin. It helps promote the production of collagen, which makes your skin feel firmer and more elastic, which in turn erases fine lines like your crow's feet and other areas of the face.

What does the procedure involve?

You'll need to visit a dermatologist or cosmetic doctor for the injections. They'll talk to you about your overall health and conduct a simple exam to ensure you're healthy enough for the treatment. Then, they'll apply a numbing agent to the area to the side of your eye before injecting the hyaluronic acid filler. You might feel a little pinch, but no serious pain. You can return home or go back to work as soon as you're done.

What are the recovery process and results like?

Some patients have a little redness and swelling after the injections, and others don't notice a thing at all. Serious side effects are very rare, but you should contact your doctor if you have any intense itching or swelling, as this might indicate that you're allergic to the injections.

Your skin should look somewhat better immediately, but your results will continue to improve for a week or two post-treatment as your body makes more collagen. You should not notice the crow’s feet when you smile or laugh anymore.  Between six and 12 months after the injections, however, the lines might begin to reappear. You can visit your dermatologist for more injections and enjoy a youthful look again.

If you're tired of seeing crow’s feet when you look in the mirror, talk to your dermatologist to learn more about hyaluronic acid fillers and other dermal filler options available. The procedure only takes a few minutes, is very safe, and yields longer-lasting results than any anti-wrinkle cream or makeup.

Finding the Right Healthcare: Putting Families First

A few years ago, I experienced a huge health scare with my blood pressure. My doctor at the time didn't offer evening or late night care, which forced me to visit the local emergency room for help. Although it may seem like a small thing to some people, not having access to my doctor when I needed it really bothered me. It bothered me so much that I searched for a new doctor after my child was born. Now, I'm happy with my family's new physician. The doctor offers after-hour care, which is a wonderful thing for us. My blog offers tips on how to find the right doctor for your family, as well as many other services you might need one day. So, please read through the blog for the information you need now.
